The Wine Tunnels Limited offers professional fine wine storage in a Government Bonded Warehouse for your fine wines.

Who we are

Every case held with The Wine Tunnels Limited is physically held at London City Bond Dinton Woods, Wiltshire.

London City Bond are the largest bonded warehousing group in the United Kingdom. Dinton Woods was originally built in 1936 as a munitions warehouse for the British Military.

The site has subterranean bunkers surrounded by a three-metre-high perimeter fence. Each vault has been covered and buttressed by soil banks, which adds protection and naturally creates the ideal conditions of constant humidity and temperature for maturing wine.

What does “in bond” mean?

Wine held in a Government Bonded Warehouse is stored “under bond”: UK excise duty and VAT are suspended for as long as it remains there. They only become payable if the wine is released from bond for delivery to an address in the UK. Wine can be bought, sold or transferred while it stays in bond.

What is a rotation number?

When your wine arrives at Dinton Woods, each delivery is logged and assigned a rotation number. It is the reference that ties a case to your account, recording who owns it and exactly where it is held — an important part of your wine’s provenance.

How do I send wine to you?

First, open an account with us. We will then give you the details your merchant, broker or current warehouse needs to send your wine to London City Bond Dinton Woods for your Wine Tunnels account. A one-off receiving charge applies per case.

Can I transfer wine to another account?

Yes. Wine can be transferred to another Wine Tunnels account for £3.75 per item, plus VAT. Deliveries to other bonded warehouses are listed on our delivery costs page.
